CRM upgrade - How to upgrade to a new CRM-Express version


The following steps can be taken to upgrade to the latest version of CRM-Express.

Note: There are a few additional notes below you have to read if you have used the Demo address book to store your data instead of creating a new address book or if more than 1 user is using the address book.

Basic upgrade

  • 1. Download the latest version from our site
  • 2. Backup the old version by copying the address books to another directory (See backup below)
  • 3. Uninstall the old CRM-Express by running Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel
  • 4. Install the new version by running Setup.exe from the downloaded program in step 1.
  • 5. Start CRM-Express and answer OK when the program asks you if you want to upgrade the address book

If you have used the Demo address book to store your data in the old version

In this case you have to create a new address book after step 4 above and copy the backup from step 2 into the directory. Then restart CRM-Express and continue with step 5.

If more than 1 user is using the address book

You will have to run the basic upgrade from the computer on which the address book is stored. Thereafter, run the upgrade on all computers that are using the address book


Backup

Demo address books are stored in the Directory where CRM-Express was installed e.g. C:\Program Files\CRM-Express\AddrBooks
Note: We do not recommend to use the demo address book to store your data as it will be removed during the uninstall. Rather create a new address book.

Created address books are stored under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\CRM-Express\Addrbooks. This is the preferred location for creating address books.
